¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ is bringing back Deaf Way but with a new twist! Starting in 2025, Deaf Way Festival is bringing back the original artistic- and cultural-gathering concept, but reformatting it into a series of festivals with specific tracks on a bi-annual basis.
This series will become a bite-sized experience to fit the needs of more globally-connected deaf lives.
Each festival will have different partners and collaborators who are experts in their field.
¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ has hosted two famous and beloved international Deaf Way Festivals with massive audience participation. Deaf Way festivals have historically celebrated arts, culture, education, and achievements within the international deaf community.
The Deaf Way Film Festival will highlight a weekend of films that showcase the work of Deaf and Hard of Hearing creatives and celebrate Deaf culture, sign language and Deaf pride. Films will be screened at venues near the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ campus in Washington, D.C. (Specific venues TBD).
The festival will also include panels and workshops, and provide space for roundtable discussions of deaf people in the film industry (possibly called Deaf Film Alliance).
Potential topics for panels and workshops may focus on breaking into the film industry, how to work with other creative deaf people and/or people with disabilities, and how to get funding for films.
The Deaf Film Alliance, as part of the Deaf Way Film Festival, aims to create a space where deaf filmmakers and deaf professionals in the industry can participate in structured and unstructured discussions about their work.
Film Submissions via FilmFreeWay.
