WSU&#8217;s online Bachelor&#8217;s completion program ranked #1 nationwide for faculty credentials and training in <em>U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/em>\u2019s first-ever edition (2012) of Top Online Education Program rankings. ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ State has continued to achieve Best Online Programs ranking each year.<\/p>\n<h2>What is Web Camp?<\/h2>\n<p>Web Camp is a certificate program that provides faculty with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to successfully transition face-to-face courses into online learning environments.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will explore topics including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Foundations of online pedagogy<\/li>\n<li>Best practices shared by experienced ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ State online faculty<\/li>\n<li>Course design using the WSU Course Template<\/li>\n<li>ADA accessibility and course compliance<\/li>\n<li>Effective use of the University&#8217;s learning management system<\/li>\n<li>Online assessment strategies<\/li>\n<li>Instructional technology tools, including: Copyleaks, InfoBase Learning Cloud, Panopto Video, ReadSpeaker, Respondus LockDown Browser &amp; Testing, Simple Syllabus, ThinkingStorm Free eTutoring, VoiceThread, Yuja Panorama for ADA Compliance, Zoom and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h1>Web Camp Application<\/h1>\n<p>Faculty who are scheduled to teach an <strong>online, hybrid, or remote synchronous<\/strong>\u00a0course are invited to apply for Web Camp, ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ&#8217;s online instructor training program.<\/p>\n<p>Web Camp is designed to prepare faculty to effectively teach in online instructional environments by providing practical training in online pedagogy, course design, instructional technology, and best practices for student engagement.<\/p>\n<p>The program is offered as a <strong>virtual, self-paced online course<\/strong> developed and supported by the <strong>Center for Instructional Technology (CIT).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Faculty who successfully complete all Web Camp requirements are eligible to receive a <strong>$750 stipend<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are accepted on a <strong>rolling basis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants will be notified of their application status as soon as possible following submission.<\/p>\n<p>Send an email with the required application materials to <strong>The Center for Instructional Technology (CIT) <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:cit@westfield.ma.edu\">cit@westfield.ma.edu<\/a> and your<strong> Department Chair.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Step 1 \u2013 Faculty Letter of Intent<\/h2>\n<p>Submit a brief email to cit@westfield.ma.edu indicating your intent to participate in Web Camp.<\/p>\n<p>Please include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Instructor name and contact information<\/li>\n<li>Anticipated course and section number to be taught online<\/li>\n<li>Semester and year the course will be offered<\/li>\n<li>Course delivery format: (Online, Hybrid, or Remote Sync)<\/li>\n<li>Instructor appointment: (Day Division or DGCE)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step 2 \u2013 Department Chair Letter of Support<\/h2>\n<p>Your Department Chair should submit a brief email to cit@westfield.ma.edu supporting your participation in Web Camp.<\/p>\n<p>The letter should include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Instructor name and contact information<\/li>\n<li>Course and section number<\/li>\n<li>Semester and year<\/li>\n<li>Course delivery format (Online, Hybrid, or Remote Sync)<\/li>\n<li>Instructor appointment (Day Division or DGCE)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both the faculty Letter of Intent and the Department Chair&#8217;s Letter of Support must be submitted before an application can be reviewed.<\/p>\n<h2>Program Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to completing the self-paced Web Camp modules, participants are expected to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in and contribute to Web Camp online discussion forums.<\/li>\n<li>Complete required tasks in a &#8220;sandbox&#8221; course, essentially building your online course, which then can be copied into your actual course.<\/li>\n<li>Meet in Zoom for a &#8220;Check Out Meeting&#8221; to ensure all tasks are complete.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Faculty who complete all program requirements will receive a Web Camp Certificate of Completion and the associated stipend.<\/p>\n<h2>Questions?<\/h2>\n<p>For additional information about Web Camp, please send an email to the Center for Instructional Technology at <a href=\"mailto:cit@westfield.ma.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cit@westfield.ma.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WSU&#8217;s Web Camp has received the &#8220;Program of Distinction Award&#8221; from the Massachusetts Board of Education.
